Juanli was born in a remote village in central China in 1977. In late 2004 she picked up a camera for the first time and discovered a love for wildlife and nature she never knew she had.

Her remarkable patience and dedication to "getting the shot" are an inspiration to many. Juanli developed her skills initially in the wetlands of coastal California and then extended periods in North East China and Yunnan.

In addition to birds, her main photographic interests are the Butterflies and Flowers of South West China.
